FSSAI LICENCES

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It is responsible for laying down scientific standards for food products and regulating their manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale, and import to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. FSSAI licenses are mandatory for various food-related businesses in India. Here are the main types of FSSAI licenses:

  1. Registration: Food businesses with an annual turnover of up to Rs. 12 lakh need to obtain an FSSAI registration. This is typically applicable to small-scale businesses.

  2. State License: Food businesses with an annual turnover between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 20 crores require an FSSAI state license. This includes medium-sized businesses and manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, etc.

  3. Central License: Food businesses with an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 20 crores, importers, and those involved in large-scale food processing, packaging, or handling require an FSSAI central license.

The application process for FSSAI licenses involves submitting the necessary documents, such as identity proof, address proof, list of food products to be handled, etc., along with the applicable fees.

The specific requirements and documents needed may vary depending on the type of license and the nature of the food business.
